Recycling most certainly helps out the environment first and foremost. Instead of putting more smog and carbon into the air and ruining our water sources, we can have similar products that do the same job but doesn’t cause as much of a negative environmental effect. This is also to our own benefit, as with a poisoned environment our health and climate will begin to suffer, leading to the eventual demise of the human race.
It also saves energy to recycle. It costs us less energy to remake things from existing materials than to make things brand new and have to re-engineer the product.
Lastly, and most obviously, it reduces the amount of waste that goes to landfill. No one wants to have a huge landfill filled with undecomposable rubbish around their property. Reducing them means there is more land available for other projects that won’t be as harmful to the environment.
